- Anand Vihar to Jogbani special train operates April 18 to July 11, except May 23
- Saharsa to Yeshwantpur special train runs on April 16, 23, and 30 this summer
As the summer travel season gathers pace, Indian Railways is stepping in to make long distance journeys a little less stressful for passengers. With schools closed and families on the move, stations across Bihar and north India are already witnessing heavy crowds. Keeping this seasonal surge in mind, the railways has announced the launch of three special trains aimed at improving connectivity and offering additional seats during the peak months.
The new services link Bihar with key destinations in the north and south, giving relief to migrant workers, students and holiday travellers alike. These trains will operate on select routes for a limited period through the summer, ensuring smoother travel when regular services are under the most pressure. According to railway officials, the decision is part of a wider effort to manage crowding during vacations and festivals, especially on routes that see exceptionally high demand every year.

Three Summer Special Trains Connecting Bihar With North And South India
1. New Delhi To Supaul Special Train
One of the most significant additions for the season is the New Delhi to Supaul special train, which started operating daily from April 17. This service directly connects the national capital with north Bihar, a corridor that witnesses massive movement during summer holidays.
The train runs via important stations such as Saharsa, Barauni, Hajipur, Ballia, Ghazipur and Varanasi, making it useful for passengers from multiple regions. However, travellers should note that this special service will remain suspended for a few days between May 21 and May 25, as per the railway schedule.
2. Anand Vihar To Jogbani Special Train
To support travel between Delhi and the Nepal border region in Bihar, the railways has also introduced the Anand Vihar to Jogbani special train. This service began on April 18 and is scheduled to run until July 11, covering most of the summer vacation period.
The only exception is May 23, when the train will not operate. Jogbani is a key entry point for cross border travel and trade, and the special train is expected to be particularly helpful for families and migrant workers travelling home during the holidays.
3. Saharsa To Yeshwantpur Special Train
For passengers heading towards southern India, the Saharsa to Yeshwantpur special train offers a valuable long distance option. Introduced from April 16, this train is scheduled to run on April 23 and April 30.
The route covers several major stations including Kiul, Jhajha, Asansol, Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam before reaching Yeshwantpur in Bengaluru. This connection helps bridge the gap between north Bihar and the southern tech hub, especially at a time when regular trains are heavily booked.

Why These Trains Matter
Railway authorities have said the special trains are being run to handle the seasonal spike in passenger numbers and to prevent overcrowding on existing services. Summer months typically see a sharp rise in long distance travel, driven by school vacations and return journeys by migrant workers. Passengers are advised to check train dates carefully and plan bookings early, as demand for these specials is expected to be high.
With these added services, summer journeys for many travellers may now become a little more comfortable.
