Delhi Metro's Blue Line connecting Yamuna Bank with Vaishali in Ghaziabad has achieved carbon-neutral certification, officials said on Sunday.

The DPCC has prohibited the immersion of idols in the Yamuna and other water bodies and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on violators, ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Pooja celebrations.

The body of a man was spotted floating in Yamuna river in Delhi today. Police arrived at the spot, near thokar number 8 of the river, and "fished out" the body with the help of divers.

An e-challan of Rs 28,500 has been issued against the vehicle's owner, Gautam Buddh Nagar Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Yamuna Prasad said.

Taking note of froth in the heavily polluted Yamuna river in Delhi, the AAP government on Friday asked the Centre to instruct Haryana and UP to ensure industries there do not release untreated residue in the river.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to fence the flood plain of the Yamuna river after removing encroachments from there to ensure no illegal construction takes place in the future.

Mr Saxena directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), which is coordinating with various construction agencies for the removal of debris and construction material from the Yamuna floodplains.

The plea contended that the illegal construction in question has been going on without any permission or regard for environmental concerns and will endanger the ecologically fragile Yamuna floodplains.
