Sony Reportedly Restructures Disc Factory After Announcing End of Physical Game Discs on PlayStation

Sony announced it was ending physical game disc production for all new PlayStation games starting January 2028. Now, the company has reportedly begun restructuring its biggest disc making facility in Austria. The plans, which makes 600,000 discs a day, will reportedly shift to producing optical microlenses.

Ampere has now said that the announcement "almost certainly guarantees” that the PS6 won’t launch before 2028.
