Thiruvananthapuram:
An actress from Kerala was arrested today for her alleged connections with the two main accused in the solar scam case. The case deals with the two accused - Sarita Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan - allegedly cheating people financially by promising to provide them equipment to tap green sources of energy.
Shalu Menon, the Kottayam based actress and dancer, had allegedly offered Mr Radhakrishnan her car and offered to help him escape. Mr Radhakrishnan was also allegedly using Ms Menon's phone while he was on the run. Another police complaint accuses her of duping a businessman along with Mr Radhakrishnan.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's office is also mired in controversy. One of his former personal assistant was arrested last month, and the opposition has alleged that the office had been in close contact with the two accused.
The opposition has also alleged that the Chief Minister's Office attempted to favour the company owned by the two accused in getting government contracts, a charge Mr Chandy has denied.
Three government officials were recently suspended for posting objectionable comments against the Chief Minister on a social networking site, and linking him to Ms Nair.
