Hyderabad: Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Friday met Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan.

The meeting assumed significance in the wake of President Pranab Mukherjee sending the bill for the formation of Telangana state to the state assembly for its views.

A senior official of the union home ministry, who brought the bill to the state on Thursday night by a special flight, also handed over a copy to the governor's office.

For the second consecutive day, Digvijaya Singh, who is in-charge of the Congress party affairs in the state, continued series of meetings with party leaders to pave way for the smooth debate on the bill in the assembly.

The central leader met state Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana for the second day in a row. Leaders from both Telangana and Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra) called on Digvijaya Singh.

C. Ramachandraiah, a state minister from Rayalaseema, and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, a senior leader from Telangana, were among the leaders who met Digvijaya in Hyderabad.
