Man 'kidnapped' from court premises

Thane: Policemen in plainclothes on Friday nabbed a history-sheeter from the premises of District Court in Thane amidst high drama.

A group of ten people barged into the premises at 2.30 pm and overpowered a middle-aged man. The incident, which took place during the lunch break, created panic with people running helter-skelter, eyewitnesses said.

The man repeatedly shouted for help but no one came to his rescue and half a dozen policemen posted there also did not intervene. The group dumped the man in an autorickshaw and fled from the scene, they said.

The matter was reported to District Judge K K Sonawane, who summoned the police officer on duty.

Later the police said the "kidnappers" were policemen in plainclothes and they were on the look for a notorious criminal, Gautam More, whom they spotted in the court premises.
