Want A Well-Rounded And Toned Bum? Here's The One Exercise That Can Help You Get It
Squats done the right way can be great for your glutes

Everyone has a different body type and it's essential that we learn to love and embrace our bodies. No matter how much we might love our bodies though, a firm, well-shaped bum is something we all seem to want. And why not, right? The most effective way to get a perfectly well-rounded and toned bum, you ask? Well, it is the beloved squat. And as an added bonus, you're legs will thank you too.

Here's how you can squat your way to a well-rounded bum.

1. Get your squat form right

If you do 100 squats but don't do them right, you're not going to see the results you want. While doing a squat, make sure -

  • Your feet are shoulder width apart
  • Your feet are pointing in the direction that feels natural in that position
  • Your knees do not point inwards. They must point in the same direction as your feet
  • Your back is not arched. Your spine should be as neutral as possible
  • You do not lean forward
  • Your knees do not cross your toes at any point

2. Add Some Resistance/Weight

We use weights to grow and strengthen different muscles in our body. The gluteus is no different. Glutes are muscles and in order for them to grow, you need to add some resistance. While a basic bodyweight squat is great if you're a beginner, if you've been at it for a while you'll only see better results once you start to squat with additional weight. Start off with using a weight that's neither too easy nor too hard for you. Gradually increase the weight and continue to do so every time you feel like you need to challenge yourself a little more.

3. Take The Break You Need

Targeting the same muscle group every day can actually cause more harm than good. In order to see the results you want, it's essential to give your muscles the rest that they need. Your muscles need time to repair so that your body feels ready to repeat the process. No rest can actually be damaging and prevent muscle growth.
