The Internet Cannot Stop Talking About This Prada Sweater That's Adorned With Holes

Luxury fashion doesn't ever need to be reasoned with or questioned in terms of functionality; it simply needs to be sported with confidence. So if you were planning on finding the reasoning behind Prada's latest offering; we've got one word for you - don't. Renowned for its high end handbags and designer sunglasses, the Italian fashion house has produced a lemon toned yellow sweater that's covered with holes. Yes, holes. The viscose turtleneck is "defined by a precious openwork motif with placed holes", as said by the brand itself. It also features a ribbed knit cuff and hemline with back zipper closure. Part of their Spring Summer 2021 line, the sweater will set you back by approximately Rs. 90,000.

To no one's surprise, the internet couldn't get enough of it and a humorous side to the luxury item has emerged. In its sunny yellow shade with symmetrical circular holes covering its entirety, the Prada turtleneck has been likened to Swiss cheese. This has further led to laughs about the famous style flick being renamed as 'The Devil Wears Swiss Cheese'. Well, it certainly has a ring to it.

To think of a sweater; whose primary purpose is to keep the body warm and protected, being decorated with holes of all things, is bizarre to say the least. The Prada sweater discussion has been compared to Kanye West's Yeezy line of apparel which, in 2016 released a sweater amongst other items which was covered with distressed details and thread work come undone.

Luxury fashion is difficult to explain, especially to non-fashion consumers and Prada hasn't made it any easier with their latest sweater. While it definitely won't keep you very warm or provide adequate coverage, it'll also leave a premium Swiss cheese-sized hole in your wallet. So if you're looking for a fashion investment, Prada's got a whole lot more un-holed items where this one came from.
