Here's Why You Should Be Saving Your Banana Peels

Bananas are awesome! They are tasty, nutritious and also come wrapped in their own carry case. Bananas are the most commonly found fruit in India and we have been gorging on them for over centuries. However, while we have been eating the very nutritious bananas, we have been depriving ourselves of its peels! Yes, you read that right - peels. The peels are known to be as beneficial as the main fruit. So the next time you eat a banana, don't throw the peel away before you try some of the things mentioned below.

Banana peels help in:

1. Whitening Teeth

Banana peels are high in potassium and other nutrients and thus are a great remedy for whitening teeth at home. Try rubbing the inside of the peel once or twice a week on your teeth and say hello to a perfect set of pearly whites.

2. Curing Itchiness

The inside skin of the banana peel has been used traditionally as a cure for dry skin or over the area affected by psoriasis (a condition causing the drying of skin). You could try rubbing it directly over the affected skin or mix it with honey to make a paste out of it.

3. Removing Warts

Warts are basically unwanted skin growth, due to a specific kind of virus that our skin comes in contact with. Small children and toddlers are more prone to warts and banana peels are a natural way of curing them. All you have to do is gently rub the inside of the peel once or twice a week on the affected area and you will see results.

4. Fighting Acne

Banana peels are known to have antiseptic properties along with being a vast resource of minerals like zinc, manganese and iron. Thus, they are known to soothe inflamed skin. So, the next time you have inflamed skin due to acne or even any bug bite, try reaching out to a banana!

While banana peels can be super helpful, do take into account any allergies that you might have or how sensitive your skin is. If you feel any irritation while trying any of the following, stop and speak to a skin specialist before carrying on.

You can also use bananas for a number of beauty purposes, as seen in these hacks.

So how will you add this delicious fruit and its peel to your beauty routine?
