Sanction for Kovalam drinking water scheme

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government has given administrative sanction for the Rs 15 crore drinkingwater scheme in the internationally-acclaimed tourism destination Kovalam and its surrounding areas.

Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar said in a release that The tourism department would provide Rs 14 crore for thescheme, while the City Corporation had set apart Rs 1 crore.

On completion of the project, the drinking water shortage problem in the entire area would be fully solved. BesidesKovalam beach, nearby Vizhinjam and Venganur panchayats would be benefitted by the scheme, he said.

State Water Authority would execute the project, which would be completed within a year, the Minister said.
