Yogita case: Forensic report rules out rape

Yogita case: Forensic report rules out rape
Nagpur:

A chemical analysis report of vaginal swab of the minor girl, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the car of state BJP president Nitin Gadkari, has ruled out rape on her.

Kotwali police have received the chemical analysis report from the Forensic Science Laboratory, Mumbai, which has clearly rejected presence of semen in her vagina, said senior Inspector R M Katole, who is investigating the case.

Yogita Thakre was found dead in the private car of Gadkari at his residence 'Gadkariwada' in Mahal in eastern part of city on May 19 as she "accidentally locked herself" in the car and died due to suffocation, police had initially said.

Later a post-mortem report revealed that Yogita died of "smothering" and blood stains were found on her private parts and undergarment, triggering the possibility of rape and murder.

Meanwhile, her parents Vimal and Ashok Thakre moved High Court with a criminal writ petition demanding CBI inquiry in the case.

The HC after issuing notices to state of Maharashtra has fixed June 10 for next hearing.

Kotwali police last week registered offenses of murder against unknown persons on which HC asked as to why a murder case was not registered earlier, directing the police to continue the investigation in to the incident.

Gadkari, however, has denied foul play and dared any investigation.
