Uttarakhand chief minister denies reports of ban on women working beyond 6 pm
Dehradun: Refuting media reports about the government asking private institutions in the state to not let women employees work beyond 6 pm due to "safety reasons", Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today claimed that no such order has been issued to them.

"No such order has been issued by the state government.

"Employers in private institutions have only been advised by the state government to make proper and adequate arrangement for the transportation of their women employees working beyond 6 pm," Mr Bahuguna told reporters.

A section of the media recently carried reports saying that the government has issued an order stopping women from working beyond 6 pm for safety reasons.

Denying the report, Mr Bahuguna said the government is sensitive and serious about safety of women.

"We are totally committed to providing adequate security to women while going to or coming back from work.

"Voicing our concern for them especially in the wake of the Delhi gang-rape incident, we have just advised employers of women in the private sector to arrange for their adequate security and transportation," the chief minister said.
