Swine flu scare: TN issues travel advisory

Swine flu scare: TN issues travel advisory
Chennai:

The Tamil Nadu government has become quite proactive about swine flu precautions.

As Pune has emerged the hotspot for the virus in the country, the Southern state issued an advisory against travelling to the state.

But Tamil Nadu isn't the only place that is worried. The Union Cabinet also took up an impromptu discussion on the topic on Thursday.

When the Prime Minister asked Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad about the remedial steps, other ministers joined in and soon started sharing ideas.

One of the ministers suggested using media to get the government's message across and the Health Minister is toying with the suggestion to address the entire nation.

While some amount of panic is understandable, doctors and government are emphasising one fact -- there's no need for alarm as India is prepared.

Meanwhile, one more person tested positive for swine flu in Pune on Thursday as a sense of panic continues in the city. There have been eight new confirmed cases of H1N1 in Pune in the last three days.

Four students in the school of Reeda Sheikh, India's first swine flu victim, are the latest to have been infected.
