New Delhi:

The Delhi Police has issued an advisory on the likely presence of two suspected terrorists in the national capital, and asked the people to keep a lookout for them.

The advisory bears a photograph of the two bearded men posing next to a milestone stating 'Delhi 360 km, Ferozepur 9 km' in dark kurtas and religious headgear. Anybody spotting them is requested to call the Paharganj police station on 011-23520787 or 011-2352474.

Ferozepur is located on the India-Pakistan border in Punjab.

The Punjab Police was placed on alert last week after its counter-intelligence wing suggested that six to seven Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists "could be moving towards Delhi" from the state.

The letter, issued by the office of the Punjab Inspector General of Police (Counter Intelligence) to law-enforcement agencies across the state on Thursday, sought the installation of checkpoints at all important routes, strict vehicle inspections and the adoption of stringent counter-terror measures.

"There is a need to review and strengthen the second line of defence along the India-Pakistan border, and coordinate closely with the Border Security Force and other defence establishments in your areas," the document added.

The letter had come close on the heels of four people taking over a taxi at gunpoint around 11:30 pm on November 13, sparking fears of another Pathankot-like terrorist attack. Police said the suspects, who hired the Toyota Innova from Jammu, forced its driver out near Madhopur and drove off.

Police are yet to confirm if the carjackers had anything to do with the Punjab alert.

The Indian Air Force's Pathankot airbase was attacked by suspected Pakistani terrorists on January 2, 2016. Seven security personnel and four terrorists were killed in the ensuing clash.
