Coronavirus India Updates: 29,616 Fresh COVID-19 Cases In India, 5.6% Lower Than Yesterday

India recorded 31,382 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,35,94,803.

India today recorded 29,616 fresh Covid cases, which is 5.6 per cent lower than yesterday figures (31,382), taking the nationwide count of infections to 33.62 million since the start of the pandemic.The country also reported 290 deaths, with the cumulative number at 4,46,658.

Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar - the three big states - reported zero Covid deaths. Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh reported one Covid death each.

Kerala, the state with most number of daily cases, reported 17,983 cases and 127 Covid deaths - the most number of deaths in a day in any state.

14 new coronavirus cases reported in UP
With 14 fresh COVID-19 cases, the total cases in Uttar Pradesh rose to 17,09,761 on Saturday while no fresh virus-related death was reported in the state, a government statement said.

The total death count remained at 22,890.

Of the 14 fresh cases, three each were reported from Maharajganj and Gautam Buddh Nagar, two each from Jhansi and Prayagraj, the government said in a statement.

In the past 24 hours, 26 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease, and have been discharged taking the total recoveries so far to 16,86,694.

The count of active cases in the state stood at 177, the statement said.

In the past 24 hours, more than 2.15 lakh samples have been tested, while so far, over 7.75 crore samples have been tested across UP, the statement said.

Places of worship allowed to reopen in Maharashtra from October 7, SOPs issued
Places of worship in Maharashtra will be allowed to open for the public from October 7, months after being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, informed the state government.

The places of worship will open only outside of the containment zones and will function as per the timings decided by the trust/board/authority of the respective place, it added.

The Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) released by the Maharashtra government mandate the use of face masks, ensuring social distancing and makes the provision of thermal scanning, hand wash, and hand sanitisers compulsory.
