New Delhi: BJP chief Amit Shah today chaired a meeting of Uttarakhand core group, held in the wake of setback the party suffered in the state where its attempt to dislodge the Congress government failed.

Mr Shah and top party leaders from the state dissected BJP's strategy and also analysed the prevailing political scene in Uttarakhand which will go to polls early next year.

Sources said the leaders deliberated on the party's strategy after Chief Minister Harish Rawat's reinstatement, following a Supreme Court-monitored floor test in the Assembly, is believed to have given him a head start over BJP.

Former state chief ministers BC Khanduri, Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Ramesh Pokhriyal besides the state party chief Ajay Bhat and its in-charge Shyam Jaju were among those who attended the meeting.

Party sources said 10 rebel Congress legislators may also join the party in the coming days.
