8,392 Coronavirus Cases In India In 24 Hours, Biggest Jump So Far

Here are the top 10 updates on coronavirus in India:

1. The country's recovery rate - number of patients who have successfully fought the illness - stood at 48.19 per cent this morning. 91,819 people have recovered, the Health Ministry said.
2. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases includes foreigners.
3. Maharashtra, the state with 67,655 coronavirus cases, the highest in the country, has drawn up a detailed plan for easing of restrictions that would begin on June 3 and would unfold in three phases till June Beyond June 8, the government will decide the way forward depending on the ground situation. The "Mission Begin Again", as the government dubbed it, gave guidelines that start with morning exercises and continue till night curfew.
4. Tamil Nadu remains the state with the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases, with the state recording 1,149 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. Tamil Nadu's tally of coronavirus cases has touched 22,333 and 173 deaths.
5. Karnataka on Sunday announced a number of relaxations in the quarantine rules for the people travelling to the state. The Karnataka government, however, kept exceptions for those coming from Maharashtra - the worst-hit coronavirus state in the country.
6. With over one lakh tests, Assam has surpassed Kerala when it comes to testing people for coronavirus infection, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said today. Out of the total one lakh tests, about 70,000 have been done in the last 20 days in the state's seven testing labs, the minister added. 
7. Mizoram - the only state without an active COVID-19 case - has extended the lockdown for another month, till June 30. Official sources say the state government felt that because of the continued increase of COVID-19 cases, especially its neighbouring northeastern states and the return of a large number of stranded people from other states, it is  necessary to extend the lockdown. 
8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday cautioned people against showing any laxity in the fight against COVID-19 and asked them to be "extra alert and careful", while acknowledging that the poor and labourers have been hit the hardest by the crisis. In his monthly  ''Mann Ki Baat'' broadcast, he noted that a big part of the economy has opened and train and flight services have begun operating partially with more relaxations on the anvil.
9. The Railways has started 200 trains from today in addition to the existing Shramik Special trains for migrants and the 30 special AC trains which are already running since last month. Over 1.45 lakh people have bought tickets to travel on first day of the second stage of resumption of passenger trains, with around 26 lakh expected to travel in June.
10. The United States - the worst affected country  - recorded 598 coronavirus deaths on Sunday, bringing its total to 1,04,356 since the global pandemic began, according to a tally kept by Johns Hopkins University.
