27 Tibetans detained near Chinese embassy
New Delhi: Twenty-seven Tibetans, including five women, were detained on Tuesday when they tried to enter the Chinese embassy in Delhi during their protest on the eve of the anniversary of uprising in Tibet 51 years ago.

The protestors assembled in front of the embassy in the high-security Chanakyapuri area in the morning and tried to enter the premises but were prevented by police personnel who were deployed there.

The detained Tibetans, who were shouting slogans like 'Tibet belongs to Tibet' and 'Free Tibet', were taken to Chanakyapuri police station.

A total of 27 protestors, including five women, were detained, a senior police official said.

Police have strengthened the security presence near the embassy anticipating similar protests in the locality by Tibetans, the official said.
