Will a testis positioned in the stomach affect my son's fertility?
Question
My son is about to have surgery to move his testicle from the canal in the right side of his stomach into his scrotum. He is 8 years old. The doctors say that the veins may not be long enough to bring the testicle down. In case it is not possible to bring it down, will he still be able to have children later in life?

Much depends on where the testis is found and how much length can one get on the vessels. If it can't come down in one stage, a second operation will bring it down fully. In any case, the effect on fertility is only marginal since there is one normally descended testicle.
