The upcoming thriller Chehre, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, has been postponed in light of the new guidelines issues because of the pandemic . The film was supposed to open in cinemas on April 9 but now it has been postponed indefinitely. Amitabh Bachchan co-stars with Emraan Hashmi in Chehre, who shared the statement on the team's behalf on Instagram. "Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and new guidelines for cinemas, we are unable to release our movie Chehre on April 9 and we have decided to postpone until further notice," read an excerpt from the statement.

The statement added: "We have received an overwhelming response on our trailer and we are grateful for all the love and support. We have decided to bring Chehre to audiences theatrically when the environment is more conducive for the experience. See you in cinemas very soon, until then stay safe and healthy. Cover your Chehre with a mask and don't forget to use a sanitizer."

The statement was released after a night curfew has been imposed in Maharashtra, as part of which cinemas and shopping malls will be closed from 8 pm to 7 am.

The trailer of Chehre released earlier this month, which featured a blink-and-miss scene starring actress Rhea Chakra borty. Directed by Rumy Jafry, the film also stars Krystle D'Souza, Siddhanth Kapoor, Raghubir Yadav and Annu Kapoor.

In the recent past, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji's Bunty Aur Babli 2 was postponed because of the coronavirus situation. Rana Daggubati's much awaited Haathi Mere Saathi has been rescheduled.
