New Delhi:

Kaun Banega Crorepati airedits 1000th episode on December 3, 2021. The quiz show, which started on July 3, 2000, holds a special place in our hearts. In fact, most of us were in school when Amitabh Bachchan's iconic voice ruled over the screens sharp at 9 pm. We don't know about you but we are feeling a bit nostalgic here. So what did the makers do on the special episode? They asked the veteran actor's daughter Shweta Bachchan and his niece Navya Naveli Nanda to grace the stage. During the episode, we could also spot Amitabh Bachchan's wife, actress Jaya Bachchan joining the trio via virtual screen.

When Shweta Bachchan asked the veteran actor to share how he is feeling on the 1000th episode, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Darasal, 21 saal ho gaye hain. San 2000 mein iski shuruvat hui thi. Aur uss samay humko pata nahi tha. Sab log keh rahe they ke aap film se television mein jaa rahe hain, bade parde se chhote parde par aa rahe hain, aapki image ko nuksaan hoga. [So, it's been 21 years since the show first aired in 2000. I remember people telling me that this switch [from the big screen to small screen] will affect my image.]”

Explaining the reason behind joining the show, Sr Bachchan said, “Humari apni kuch paristhitiyaan aisi thi ke mujhe laga ke filmon mein kaam jo hai wohh mil nahi raha tha [Actually, at that time I wasn't getting much work.]

Sharing the response that the show had received after the first episode, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Lekin pehle show ke baad jis tarah se reaction aane shuru hue, phir aisa laga ki puri duniya badal gayi hain. [The response that we had received after the first episode made me feel that the world has changed.]”

The second half of the clip featured some of the best throwback moments from the show. Towards the end, we see Amitabh Bachchan breaking down in tears after witnessing the whole journey.

Shweta Bachchan and Navya Naveli Nanda have been sharing BTS moments from the 1000th episode on Instagram. And, we aren't complaining. Take a look at this photo dump shared by Navya Naveli Nanda dedicated to her mother. “Yes mom, you are always right,” it read. And, Shweta Bachchan replied with a firm yes. She wrote, “Hahah. Always.”

Next, we have a set of pictures featuring Navya Naveli Nanda, mother Shweta Bachchan and grandfather Amitabh Bachchan. “21 years & 999 episodes later,” Navya wrote.
