New Delhi: Avengers: Age of Ultron is still charting a course of least resistance to the top of Indian box office, unimpeded by competition from Bollywood. The superhero film has collected Rs 46 crores since it opened here last Friday, a full week before it releases in USA on May 1.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:
With
Furious 7's blockbuster earnings, the Avengers have put Hollywood at the top of the list of money spinners this year, a position from which it looks unshakeable and one which is usually reserved for the Khans. As the first quarter of the year ends, Bollywood will be looking to the next few films coming up to revive its flagging fortunes - this week's
Gabbar Is Back, next month's
Piku, Bombay Velvet and
Tanu Weds Many Returns, and June's
Dil Dhadakne Do.
Meanwhile, the critically appraised
Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! continues to lag behind with collections worth Rs 30 crores after three weeks in cinemas. South Indian films
OK Kanmani and
Son of Satyamurthy are doing well both at home and abroad.
