Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar-directed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and is reportedly in talks to star in Vashu Bhagnani's film, Sundarkand, with her actor husband Abhishek Bachchan. Recently, Abhishek walked out of JP Dutta's Paltan, a day before the crew left for the Ladakh schedule. JP Dutta had launched Abhishek in 2000 film Refugee and had directed both Abhishek and Aishwarya in the remake of Umrao Jaan, which released in 2006.
Her casting in Sundarkand is not confirmed but Aishwarya Rai is certainly starring in Rakesh Omprakash Mehra's Fanney Khan, co-starring Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Fanney Khan will be directed by Atul Manjrekar. Fanney Khan is believed to be a remake of a Dutch film called Everybody's Famous and it deals with the issue of body-shamming.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returned to the silver screen after a sabbatical of five years in 2015. She started her second innings on the silver screen with Sanjay Gupta's Jazbaa, which tanked at the box office. Her next film Sarbjit (2016) met with a similar fate and only Ae Dil Hai Mushkil saved the day for Aishwarya.
