CBSE Schools To Have Optional Value Education Programme

New Delhi:  In a bid to promote values such as harmony, peace, compassion and humility, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had signed an MoU with the Ramakrishna Mission in 2014. As part of the MoU, the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi has prepared a teaching programme. The 'Awakened Citizen Programme' , which has been prepared for both students and teachers, is a three year graded Values Education programme for students of class 6, 7 and 8 (or 7, 8 and 9).

The programme, a Teacher Training Module for giving Value Education to students is optional and the schools desirous of adopting the 'Awakened Citizen Programme' for their students may visit the website (www.theawakenedcitizen.org) to know more about the programme's content, approach.

The schools who decide to incorporate the programme will be provided tools, programme material, and teachers training by the Ramakrishna Mission. Schools which do opt for the programme will have to  allot 16 periods per year and will have to commit to the programme for a period of minimum three years.

Since the programme will involve initial two days' training of teachers conducted in the school, so the schools desirous of introducing the programme will have to register with the Ramakrishna Mission.
