Thane:
A 35-year-old woman was run down by a school bus close to the Yeoor hills in Thane on Saturday morning, police said.
The victim, Snehal Harad, was going for her regular jogging session when the incident took place. Police have arrested the bus driver, Rajeet Usavaha (33), and booked him for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The bus, was carrying Kendriya Vidyalaya students and was on its way to the school up the Yeoor hills, they added.
The bus driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle owing to brake failure and hit the woman. After that, the bus also knocked down the security cabin of the forest department and struck a tree.
At the time of the accident, there were 65 school children in the bus and none of them were fortunately injured, police said.
The Vartak Nagar Police have registered the case against the driver. Further probe is on.
