Bangalore: Techie arrested for killing ex-girlfriend

Bangalore: The Mico Layout police have arrested a software engineer in Chennai in connection with the murder of Malarvizhi, 25, who was killed in her house at II Stage in BTM Layout on October 11.

The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Naveen from Chennai, a software engineer in a private company in Hyderabad. He was absconding after the murder.

The police collected information about Naveen and finally came to know that he had attempted to commit suicide in Chennai. He was arrested with the help of Chennai's Mambalam police from the city's T Nagar area.

Naveen will be brought to Bangalore. "We are facing some legal problem as he tried to commit suicide. He was recently released from a hospital in Chennai. A case was registered with the Chennai police," a senior police officer said.

Naveen allegedly killed Malarvizhi, a native of Thirunavelli, by slitting her throat by a sharp glass. Investigation revealed that the accused had physical relationship with her before the murder. A gift presented to Malarvizhi led to the conclusion that she was killed by someone known to her. The needles of suspicion pointed towards Naveen, who was in love with Malarvizhi before her marriage.

Malarvizhi and her husband Balasubramanyam had recently moved to Bangalore after their marriage in the first week of September. The couple was staying in SMS Residency in BTM Layout.
