Actor Sadhana alleges death threats from Mumbai builder

Mumbai: Yesteryear actor Sadhana has lodged a complaint against a builder accusing him of issuing death threats to her and forcing her to vacate her 3,000 sq ft suburban Santacruz residence.

The 68-year-old actress, known for roles in "Mera Saya" and "Woh Kaun Thi", stays on the ground floor of two-storeyed 'Sangeeta' bungalow owned by singer Asha Bhosle while the accused Yusuf Lakdawala stays on the second floor, police said. Another family stays on the first floor, they said adding all the three are tenants.

According to Santacruz police, complained to them that water supply to her house has been irregular for a few days, after which on Monday, the actress asked her secretary Flora to check the water tank on the terrace.

However, police said, Lakdawala's family allegedly did not allow Flora to go to the terrace. Sadhana claimed she told about it to Lakdawala, who along with two others, argued with her and gave her death threats asking her to leave the place, police added.

"Sadhana said Lakdawala wants to redevelop the property for which he has been terrorising her for some time now asking her to leave the 3000 sq ft ground floor residence so that the it could redeveloped," said M P Choudhary  Santacruz police station said.

"An FIR against Lakdawala and two others was registered yesterday for giving her death threats and harassing her," he said adding "no arrests have been made in the case and investigation is on."

There was no immediate comment from Lakdawala.
