Volkswagen has officially unveiled the Taigun Facelift in the Indian market. While the prices are yet to be announced, the brand has announced that the facelift has secured a five-star safety rating for both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP). Hence, it continues to maintain its presence on the list of safest SUVs available on the Indian market.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Safety Rating Breakdown

Global NCAP has not yet released the crash test ratings for the updated Taigun facelift. However, the results from the pre-facelift version, which was tested in 2022, can give us a detailed look into the car's safety. This version achieved a score of 92.47 percent in adult occupant protection and 91.84 percent for child occupant protection. In terms of pedestrian protection and safety for vulnerable road users, it received a score of 54.14 percent.

Additionally, it scored 83.28 percent in the safety assist evaluation. The upcoming 2026 Taigun facelift will be evaluated under the latest and more rigorous Global NCAP standards, which include tests for frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, whiplash protection, and pedestrian safety.

The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which it shares with the Skoda Kushaq facelift. This platform is known for its strong structural integrity, stable body shell and footwell, and its capacity to withstand extra loads during collisions.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Safety Features

Regarding safety features, the Volkswagen Taigun comes standard with six airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill-hold assist, and multi-collision braking throughout its lineup. However, it lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera, which are available on the rivals in the segment.
