The updated Tesla Model Y was launched not very long ago. But that doesn't change the fact that it has already received its first recall. The issue in this recall pertains to a plastic elbow that plays its role to route the windshield wiper fluid onto the windscreen itself. Hence, it requires the electric vehicle manufacturer to make some physical tweaks to the vehicle, unlike most cases where the automaker fixed things via a software update.

The issue might not be considered as major as the transmission box failing or the locking of the steering wheel, but it can not be undermined. If it persists, a dirty windshield can be a safety hazard, obstructing the driver's vision. All because of a part that rolled off a production line in Malaysia.

Tesla reported that it identified this flaw on its own in mid-April. During a test drive of a newly manufactured Model Y on April 18, the technicians observed an issue. The next Monday, Tesla began examining additional Model Ys for the same problem. While conducting these inspections, the company also reached out to its supplier in Malaysia.

Upon dialogue with the supplier, the electric vehicle manufacturer got confirmation that the problem came into existence because of the failure to revalidate their tools after a repair. Before issuing a recall, the automaker tested the vehicle with one wiper nozzle instead of two to determine if one would suffice. The results led the automaker to issue a recall to address the problem.

Based on the automaker's announcement, 172 units are affected. The problem can be solved by replacing the defective part with a new, functional one. Until now, the brand has not had any cases of accidents related to the problem.
