New Gen Renault Duster teaser

Renault India has officially announced the reintroduction of the Duster SUV in the Indian market. The new-generation version of the vehicle will make its India debut on January 26. Initially launched in 2012, the Duster gained popularity among Indian consumers but was later discontinued. Now, Renault is bringing it back to the country. In preparation for the launch, they have released a new teaser hinting at the new-gen version of the SUV.

The short video clip released on social media appeals to the audience with nostalgia, bringing a bit of the history of the SUV on screen. It begins with a child playing with a toy replica of the older model. In this brief video, a child is shown holding a black sedan toy, which he puts down after noticing the scale model of the first-generation Duster.

The clip then transitions to show an old Duster driving through rough terrain. Later on, they move on to show the SUVs with "GOD" written on them, which stands for "Gangs of Duster," a community created by Renault India. With a few more shots, the clip ends with the new-gen Duster with the model covered in red cloth. It also shows the LED DRLs of the SUV and rear LED lighting.

The teaser highlights the strategy of the brand to evoke the feeling of nostalgia among consumers. This is something similar to what we have seen with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles in the case of Sierra, which was recently launched in the Indian market, reviving a nameplate that was earlier discontinued.

The teaser mentions that the "Icon is back," with a specific date of 26.01.26 emphasized. The new-generation Duster will be revealed in conjunction with India's 77th Republic Day. It remains unclear whether the company will introduce the vehicle alongside full pricing information or if it will solely present the new design of the Duster.

The new-gen Renault Duster is already on sale in the global market and has been seen undergoing tests in India on multiple occasions. It brings an entirely new design that closely resembles the model offered in the international market. It will feature V-shaped tail lights, robust wheel arch cladding, a shark fin antenna, roof rails, as well as a rear washer and wiper, along with a slanted windshield.

At the front, the revamped Renault Duster will present a vertical styling with Y-shaped LED headlights, a grille that resembles a bull bar, and a sculpted hood. Other significant characteristics of the updated Renault Duster include sharp wheel arches, side mirrors that incorporate turn signals, darkened B-pillars, conventional door handles, and additional features.

In terms of specifications, the Renault Duster available worldwide provides a variety of powertrain options, including a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system that generates a total output of 128.2 hp, along with a 1.6-litre strong hybrid petrol engine paired with two electric motors supported by a 1.2kWh battery, delivering a maximum power output of 138 hp. Furthermore, there is a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG engine producing 98.6 hp, coupled with a 6-speed transmission that powers all four wheels.
