BMW has unveiled the facelifted 7 Series, its flagship luxury sedan. This mid-cycle update brings exterior revisions, a full interior redesign, and technology from the upcoming Neue Klasse lineup. The 7 Series retains its proportions but gets updated front and rear styling. Headlamps now feature slim daytime running lights above vertical main units, paired with a reworked bumper and bonnet. The kidney grille has horizontal slats instead of vertical ones. At the rear, slimmer tail-lamps include a new signature with a blacked-out lower section. Side profiles are smoother with fewer creases. All of it is complemented by alloy wheels up to 22 inches, and a host of paint options, including dual-finish schemes.

The cabin sees the most change, with a new dashboard layout for the Panoramic iDrive on Operating System X. This includes a full-width, windscreen-based display, a 17.9-inch central touchscreen, and a standard 14.6-inch passenger screen. AI voice control, over-the-air updates, and smartphone integration are supported.

A vertical twin-spoke steering wheel, crystal gear selector, and reduced physical buttons feature inside. Rear passengers get a 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen with Dolby Atmos, video calls, and gaming. Touch controls in the rear doors adjust screen position. Ambient lighting, panoramic roof, and four-zone climate control are complete.

BMW 7 Series Facelift: Powertrain

ICE Options: The updated BMW 7 Series brings a host of powertrain options covering petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric options. Starting with the 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder petrol and diesel engine options, these units come paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. In the 740 xDrive, the petrol motor produces 400 hp of power and 580 Nm torque, while the 740d xDrive diesel develops 313 hp and 670 Nm.

Plug-in Hybrid: The plug-in hybrid options consist of the 750e xDrive and M760e xDrive, both featuring a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The 750e generates 489 hp and 700 Nm of torque, while the M760e produces 612 hp and 800 Nm. The electric-only range for the 750e is estimated at 70-82 km, while for the M760e, it is about 80 km (according to WLTP standards).

Electric Powertrain: The fully electric i7 lineup offers several variants, such as the i7 50 xDrive, i7 60 xDrive, and i7 M70 xDrive. Each of these models is equipped with a battery of around 112.5 kWh and can support DC fast charging at rates of up to 250 kW. The power outputs vary from 455 hp and 660 Nm in the i7 50 xDrive to 680 hp and a maximum of 1100 Nm in the i7 M70 xDrive. The claimed WLTP range is approximately between 566 km and 728 km, depending on the variant.

BMW 7 Series Facelift: India Launch

The BMW 7 Series Facelift will likely be brought to India in late 2026 or early 2027. Production of the flagship sedan will begin in July 2026.
