Engine And Performance

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift range gets widespread mechanical revisions. The GLE 580 continues with its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, now producing 537hp and 750Nm, marking an increase of 20hp and 20Nm.

The GLE 450 retains its 3.0-litre inline-six engine but now delivers 560Nm, thanks to improved intake and combustion updates.

A major highlight is the GLE 450e plug-in hybrid, which replaces the earlier four-cylinder setup with a new inline-six engine and now offers a claimed 105km WLTP electric-only range.

In the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 SUV and Coupe, buyers now get both mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. The new plug-in hybrid setup develops 585hp and 750Nm, allowing 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds, while also supporting an electric-only top speed of 140kph.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 is expected to continue with a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid tech, producing around 375hp with smoother low-end response and better cruising refinement. 

Higher up, the GLS 580 carries forward the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid setup, now tuned for stronger performance and improved response. Internationally, this V8 produces around 510hp, while the latest facelifted global version has seen outputs climb even further in some markets.

For markets like India, Mercedes-Benz is also likely to continue the 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel option, which remains a key choice in the flagship luxury SUV segment thanks to its strong torque-rich highway manners.

All variants continue with the 9-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, ensuring effortless long-distance performance, strong highway stability and the polished driving character expected from the GLS.
