Mahindra Thar Rescues Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe

The Mahindra Thar is considered to be one of the most capable SUVs in India, thanks to its 4X4 system. The aggressive styling of the Mahindra Thar proved to be appealing to the young Indian car buyers and led to a high sales tally. Keeping up with the demand and popularity, Mahindra also introduced the Thar Roxx in August 2024. On the other hand, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 is a luxury car and focuses on a sleek and sophisticated appeal overall, as compared to the Thar.

Recently, we stumbled upon a video shared by Varta News that shows a Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 stuck in a ditch. The video also shows a Mahindra Thar rescuing the Benz with a rope. The sources claim that the incident took place on the Valsad National Highway in Gujarat. Probably, the GLE 53 Coupe SUV was trying its best to overtake a vehicle. However, the driver lost traction and ended up in the slush. The images indicate that the ditch was quite deep, as the front left tyre was submerged in the mud.

Further, the video shows a three-door Thar coming to the GLE 53's rescue. After a few revs, the Thar finally proved its 4X4 prowess and pulled the Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 out of the slush.

Under the hood, the Mahindra Thar offers a trio of engine choices: a 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol delivering 150 hp, a 1.5L mHawk turbo diesel with 116 hp, and a 2.2L mHawk turbo diesel churning out 130 hp. On the other hand, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe flexes its muscle with a 3.0L six-cylinder petrol engine that unleashes a mighty 429 hp and 560 Nm of torque, paired with an AWD system. But while the GLE dominates on paper, the Thar's rugged DNA and off-road grit may prove more dependable when the terrain turns wild and muddy.
