Maruti Suzuki XL6 Launched With Six Airbags As Standard; Check Prices

Maruti Suzuki is working on improving the safety of its vehicles by making six airbags a standard feature across variants of different models. The latest to join the list is its premium MPV, XL6. The change is immediately effective and has resulted in an upward price revision of up to 0.8 per cent for the model. This translates to an increase ranging between Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the variant. Hence, the prices of the model now start at Rs 11.92 lakh (ex-showroom).

 With this update, the XL6 now joins other models in the Nexa and Arena range, including the Ertiga, Baleno, Alto K10, Celerio, WagonR, Eeco, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny, and Invicto, all of which now come with six airbags as a standard feature. Prior to the XL6, the most recent models to receive this upgrade were the Ertiga and Baleno.

This initiative aligns with the government's aim to improve road safety. Previously, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had announced that all new passenger cars would be equipped with six airbags as standard by October 2025. As a result, all original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India have begun implementing the necessary adjustments to their offerings.

Before this upgrade, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 had four airbags and came with safety features like ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, seat belt reminder, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear window defogger, 360-degree view camera, and more.

Meanwhile, the rest of the details of the car remain the same. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 continues to seek power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology, producing 102 hp and 137 Nm of torque. It is available with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. The model also has the option of a CNG powertrain.
