KTM is preparing to introduce the limited-edition 1390 Super Duke RR, a higher-spec iteration of the already formidable 1390 Super Duke R. This new RR follows the template set by the 1290 Super Duke RR, which appeared in two exclusive runs of 500 units each in 2021 and 2023. Those models commanded a premium over the standard version, thanks to reduced weight and upgraded suspension. According to Cycle World, the approval documents confirm the 1390 Super Duke RR will adopt the same approach, offering lighter weight than the R but no additional power or torque.

European approval documents may lack photos, but they reveal key technical insights about the KTM 1390 Super Duke RR. The filing confirms the model distinguishes itself from the standard version with an Akrapovic titanium muffler featuring twin, stacked outlets, already available in the options catalog. While performance figures remain unchanged at 188 hp at 10,000 rpm and 107 lb-ft at 8,000 rpm, the RR benefits from reduced weight, tipping the scales at 450 pounds fully fueled versus 467 pounds for the base R.

The approval documents also reveal that the upcoming KTM 1390 Super Duke RR will sport a handlebar widened by 17 mm, likely to accommodate lever guards, similar to the earlier 1290 Super Duke RR. Alongside this ergonomic tweak, the model is expected to gain premium hardware upgrades, including higher-spec WP Apex Pro suspension. While this suspension enhancement has yet to be officially confirmed, it signals KTM's intent to elevate performance and rider confidence with the limited-edition RR.

The 1390 Super Duke RR is expected to retain the engine from the 1390 Super Duke R. It gets a 1,350cc V-twin engine carrying over unchanged, delivering 190hp and 145Nm as in the standard model. CycleWorld suggests the bike may have been intended for an EICMA 2025 debut, though KTM's financial challenges appear to have delayed those plans. Currently, there is no official word on launch timelines. However, Bajaj's acquisition of KTM could provide the investment needed to realign product strategies. Pricing remains unconfirmed, but the 1390 Super Duke RR is expected to demand a notable premium.
