Gadchiroli:
Re-polling is being held in 22 polling stations in Naxal-hit areas of Maharashtra on Thursday, including those in the Gadchiroli district, where polling staff could not reach on Tuesday.
The Election Commission had ordered the re-poll on Wednesday.
Incidents of violence and disruption were reported from these booths on Tuesday. There were over eight incidents of firing but no one was trapped.
Just before the polling began on Tuesday, Naxals opened fire in Kasansur. Three hours later, they were back with another aborted attempt at Bonde, Korchi in the Armori constituency, where they fired at a polling party.
Shortly after polling concluded, Naxals laid siege to a polling booth in Dhanora.
Re-poll will also be held on Thursday in Nagpur and Ichalkaranji polling stations of Maharashtra.
Gadchiroli recorded a high voter turnout despite Naxal terror. Some villagers are now worried if they will face a backlash.
