Congress hopes to win at least 150 seats in Rajasthan

Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress candidate Ashok Gehlot filing his nomination paper from Sardarpura.

Jaipur: Claiming that anger of rebel candidates and their supporters will be tackled amicably, Congress General Secretary and party in charge Gurudas Kamat today said the party hoped to win at least 150 out of 200 Assembly seats in Rajasthan.

Barring some exceptions in ticket distribution process, candidates' active participation, winning ability and merit have been considered to nominate them in the assembly polls slated for December one, Mr Kamat told reporters in Jaipur.

He said ticket distribution was not done on caste lines nor on religion basis.

Mr Kamat said he hoped rebels would probably withdraw their papers by November 16.

To a question on giving tickets to kin of three accused and jailed MLAs (former ministers Babulal Nagar, Mahipal Maderna and MLA Malkhan Singh), when asked, Mr Kamat said they (kin) have not committed any crime and have worked for the party.

Congress has fielded Mr Nagar's brother Hazarilal Nagar from Dudu, Amri Devi, mother of Malkhan from Luni seat, and Leela Maderna, wife of Mahipal from Osian seat.
