Rajahmundry:
25-year-old man today allegedly set ablaze his mother when she refused to give him Rs 10 to purchase an item in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.
T Ambedkar (25), residing with his mother Durgabai (50) at Kadiyapulanka village in Kadiam mandal of the district, asked his mother to give him Rs 10 to purchase some item which she refused, they said.
Ambedkar then poured kerosene on his mother and set her on fire, police said, adding that she received 40 per cent burn injuries. She has been admitted in a corporate hospital at Rajahmundry for treatment, they said.
The man's father works in the postal department, police said.
Kadiam police subsequently arrested the man and registered a case in this regard.
