New Delhi: A 40-year-old dentist was beaten to death allegedly with sticks and iron rods in west Delhi's Vikaspuri area in a case of road rage around midnight on Thursday. The mob which attacked him, included at least four juveniles, police said.

The dentist, Pankaj Narang, was standing outside his house in Vikaspuri when two men on a motorcycle brushed past him. The incident led to a scuffle after which the two men on the motorcycle left their bike at the spot and went away, police said.

A short while later the two - one of whom is a juvenile - returned with 13 other men armed with hockey sticks and iron rods. The police says Mr Narang was then beaten up by the mob and struck on his head with the rods and sticks. The mob also thrashed people who came to the dentist's rescue.

Locals called the police and rushed Mr Narang to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

A case under charges of murder, attempt to murder, trespassing and rioting has been registered in this connection, police said.

Eight people, including the two men on the motorcycle, have been arrested, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar said. The police is still looking for the other accused.

"Police zeroed in on the accused, all of whom were found to be locals. By this morning, we had apprehended eight of them. Efforts are on to nab the others," Mr Kumar said.

Mr Narang is survived by his wife and an eight-year-old son.
