BJP Trying to Take Power in Delhi Through Back Door, Says AAP

The ruling BJP is likely to be asked to form government in Delhi, which has been under President's rule since February. Lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung has sought President Pranab Mukherjee's permission to invite the single largest party.
  • I am not surprised, this was expected. The Lieutenant Governor is working for the government and the Centre. The BJP is scared of elections, they have Intelligence Bureau reports which show that they will get less than last time. I will shave off my head if BJP forms the government.

    Somnath Bharti, AAP leader

  • The BJP should come out clean that when it lacks the numbers, why does the Lieutenant Governor need to open the backdoor (chor darwaza)? It is unconstitutional to invite BJP to form the government.

    Ashutosh, AAP leader

  • Well, the question is what has changed? After all the BJP was the single largest party on Day 1, why didn't they form the government then? And the fact that they want to form the government now and avoid the court of the people is indicative of their nervousness that they are afraid going before people.

    Manish Tewari, Congress leader

  • We will not support BJP under any circumstances. If AAP and Congress form the government today, we will support them.

Shoaib Iqbal, Janata Dal (United) leader

  • Our party has reached this position today by serving people. We are in the service of the country unlike AAP whose whole politics is based on accusation and try to be relevant in the media.

    Nalin Kohli, BJP leader
