The horrific accident occurred on December 6 in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur region
Pedestrians in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur region were left scrambling when an SUV headed straight at them, eventually crashing through a hotel door. The horrific accident, which occurred on December 6, was captured on camera. However, the shocking footage was only released to the public on December 14.
Video captured on the hotel's surveillance camera shows people walking outside the hotel looking towards the road. Sensing danger, they scatter to avoid the speeding vehicle headed their way. While a couple of them move away from the hotel, two women make a spur-of-the-moment decision to rush inside the hotel through the revolving door. But after just a few seconds, the SUV breaks through a metal railing and rams the revolving door, shattering the glass into little pieces.
Footage from a CCTV camera placed inside the hotel lobby shows the two women desperately trying to escape harm's way but, unfortunately, a metal-detector gate crashes down on them.
According to CGTN, the driver of the SUV hit the accelerator instead of the brake, resulting in injuries to the women.
