Sometimes the changes have been due to age, sometimes due to motherhood, and sometimes rumoured to be of a non-biodegradable nature. But controversial or not, the makeover pictures of these stunning beauties are worth taking a look at.
Sushmita Sen - Miss Universe 1994
The year was 1994 and a certain grey-green eyed top model was touted as the Miss India favourite. But the who's who of fashiondom were left tongue-tied when little-known 18 year-old Sushmita Sen stole the crown instead and went on to win the Miss Universe pageant as well. Dressed in the best clothes she and her mother could manage on a modest budget, the Bengali beauty was the first Indian woman to win this prestigious pageant.
We often see Sush sashaying around looking like a million bucks, but remember when she used to look like this?
Different or not, this leggy lass is and always be fabulous:
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan- Miss World 1994
A mega movie star, known and loved internationally, and universally acknowledged to be the most beautiful woman on earth, Aishwarya Rai's story is a fairytale. This former Miss World rules hearts and has managed to make waves with very hit and miss in her career and personal life.
This happily married star is currently basking in the glory of motherhood and doing this in her free time. (Not.)

Y2K was a good year for us, beauty pageant wise and gave us not one but three beauty queens who won international acclaim. Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe 2000, Priyanka Chopra became Miss World and Dia Mirza stole the glory as Miss Asia Pacific. A peek into what they looked like back then, and their later Bollywood transformation.
Lara Dutta - Miss Universe 2000
The rosy cheeked Lara Dutta stole Priyanka's thunder at the Miss India 2000 pageant and she continued to wow judges later at the Miss Universe contest. She may not be as successful in Bollywood as PC, but Lara isn't one to be written off just yet.
Married to tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi and mother of an adorable baby girl, here's hoping Lara makes a comeback soon.
Priyanka Chopra - Miss World 2000
Miss World Priyanka Chopra did not look like the Priyanka Chopra, the actress and we're being extremely politically correct here. A teeny blast from the past of the 'exotic' actor:
Actor and now singer, this gorgeous small town actress has made it big both nationally and internationally. We're proud PC, we truly are.
Dia Mirza - Miss Asia Pacific 2000
Dia Mirza has one of the prettiest faces in the country but her film career sadly never took off. Newly married and the latest film producer on the block, this former Miss Asia Pacific made heads turn with her last production, Bobby Jasoos.
For long, has Bollywood been ruled by male film producers - will this beauty queen change all that? We're with you Dia. May you win this race and several others!

Celina Jaitley - Miss India 2001
Sadly for Celina, Bollywood completely passed her by without so much as a backward glance. Her brightest moments will forever remain Feroz Khan's Janasheen and her item number as Sania Badnaam from Apna Sapna Money Money.
Married with two cute kids, Celina seems to have taken a break from doing small roles in large-cast films.
