A 16-year-old student of class 10 was allegedly abducted from Ghaziabad, adjacent to the national capital, driven to another suburb Noida and gangraped in a house there on Wednesday evening.
The teen has told the police that she was on her way back home from tuition on Wednesday evening, when she was forced into an SUV by three men, who took her to the house in Noida and raped her.
The girl said in her complaint that they dropped her near her home later in the night. A medical examination is yet to be conducted to establish rape.
Three men, all around 20 years of age, have been arrested after the girl identified one of them as known to her. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and also for gangrape and abduction, the police said.
A string of rape cases in and around Delhi recently have again underscored how unsafe women are in the national capital region. Last month, a woman was raped allegedly by the driver of the Uber cab she had rented to head home to Delhi after a night out with friends in Gurgaon.
The Uber case happened days before the second anniversary of the brutal gang-rape of a Delhi paramedical student in a moving bus that had unleashed global outrage in 2012 and led to tougher anti-rape laws being framed.
Ghaziabad and Noida are in Uttar Pradesh, which has a poor record to show for rape cases. In Badaun recently, a 14-year-old girl was raped allegedly by two policemen.
