Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena or MNS chief Raj Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai.
- Shah Rukh Khan met Raj Thackeray on Sunday at his residence in Mumbai
- Mr Thackeray said Mr Khan came to to clear air about co-star Mahira Khan
- Mr Khan previously ran into trouble for the release of "My Name is Khan"
The meeting, that took place in the evening, assumes significance as Mr Khan's upcoming film "Raees", which features Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, is scheduled for a release next month, party sources said.
After the meeting, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray told news agency ANI: "He (Shah Rukh Khan) had come to inform that rumours about Mahira Khan promoting Raees are false."
Notably, the MNS has in the past objected to casting of Pakistani actors in Indian movies citing the neighbouring country's reported involvement in terrorist attacks in India.
Earlier in October, the MNS had staged high-voltage protests against the release of filmmaker Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" for featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.
The Bollywood superstar had previously run into trouble for the release of "My Name is Khan" in 2010, with Shiv Sena, opposing its screening then.
