The term 'Dewy dumpling skin' came from the smooth texture of the skin of dumplings. Dumplings' glowy, glossy, plump skin is replicated on the face to achieve the dewy effect. The entire motive of the trend is to obtain the appearance of steamed dumplings. There are numerous ways to obtain the look through makeup by following tutorials but getting the dewy dumpling skin naturally by following a skincare routine is a difficult process. Dr Agni Kumar Bose, Dermatologist, Venereologist, and Dermatosurgeon, and Dr Akanksha Sanghvi, Aesthetic Dermatologist and Founder of Oprava Aesthetics share their ideas and tips on 'Dewy Dumplings Skin' and ways to achieve it naturally.

6-Step Skincare To Follow To Achieve Dewy Dumpling Skin As Per Dr. Agni Kumar Bose
1. Exfoliate
Exfoliation is effective according to Dr Bose. He says to look for titles like AHA, and BHA (salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid). If you have oily skin, you can exfoliate twice weekly; if you have dry skin, once per week is sufficient. Exfoliation removes the top layer of dead skin cells and gives you a lovely natural glow. Your skin will be highly sensitive the day you exfoliate, so stick to sunscreen and moisturizer.
2. Ample Use Of Sunscreen
Use sunscreen even if you don't use any other skincare products. Sunscreen with SPF 30 is sufficient but make sure you wear it the whole day. Reapply if needed. Wear it even indoors if you can see things without turning on your lights which means the sunrays are entering your home.

3. Take Oral Collagen
Topical collagen creams are ineffective because collagen molecules are too large to pass through the skin and thus powdered oral collagen is preferable. Dr Bose also says that since collagen is an animal protein, it can never be vegan; vegan collagen does not exist. Vegetarian and vegan sources will be identified as collagen boosters rather than true collagen.
4. Keep Your Skin Moisturised
Use a moisturiser after taking a shower, when the skin is still damp. There are gel-based moisturisers with sebum control and non-comedogenic on their labels, for oilier skin types. Make sure you choose your moisturiser according to your skin type. It will cause breakouts and uneven skin if you use a strong moisturizer designed for dry skin on oily skin.
5. Use Retinol During The Evening
Use retinol as a PM routine. It eliminates uneven pigmentation and helps to even out the skin's texture. It helps the other skincare actives to penetrate the skin more effectively. However, retinol may not be as safe for women who are pregnant or trying to conceive.
6. Use Niacimide In the Mornings
Niacinamide serum and/or vitamin C serum are two possible add-ons that you can include along with the aforementioned steps. You can apply niacinamide in the morning, following your cleanser, and before sunscreen. Vitamin C should preferably be used at night, so if you include it, do so with Vitamin C one night and Retinol the next.
As per insights shared by Dr Akanksha Sanghvi, the Korean beauty regime is all about consistency. Beauty products have to be layered over one another in the correct order and technique to achieve dewy skin which looks natural and effortless. The skincare regime should be a combination of the right products. The actives like glycolic acids, lactic acids, vitamin C, Retinols, and niacinamide should be paired with the non-actives like ginseng, fermented rice water, propolis, and centella asiatica which are calming, hydrating, and repairing creams or serums. The synergy of these products helps to rejuvenate, heal and hydrate the skin gently improving overall skin health. Consistency of the procedure takes its own sweet time and accelerating the process for quicker results can prove to be more damaging. Patience is key to any beauty regimen.
