Stripes have a come a long way, haven't they? Back in the 80s, they were a revolution of sorts - from pants, tops to shirts, stripes permeated through the sartorial scene and never left. Why should they? Ever so versatile and ever so visually trippy - stripes have added to many a designer's inspirations and therefore, their collections. But hey, you know what is at once stylish and reminiscent of our childhood? Candy cane stripes. Bold, quirky, and fun, they never fail to make me want to rush to a candy store and nibble on some sugary treats. And that is exactly what happened when actress Kajol shared THIS on her Instagram.

No biggie. Just a Throwback Thursday post reminding us of the golden days where bandanas were chic AF and colour-pops were as with the times even as they were rad. And trust Kajol to carry off something so vibrant.

We will tell you this though: you can wear something like that today, right now, and it will work just as stylishly as it did then. That is how everlasting stripes are in fashion.

Take this bandwagon of stripes sarees for instance. From Shilpa Shetty in an Urvashi Kaur saree to Neha Dhupia in a Raw Mango one, everyone seems to be doing and it and basking in the glory of the praise stripes bring.

But hey, let's not digress from the playful candy cane stripes, eh? Because not so long ago, Deepika Padukone was seen in THIS Sabyasachi creation. Boy oh boy, those red-and-white stripes with the black long-sleeved gold trimmed blouse is killing it.

This saree was a part of Sabyasachi's latest summer collection. Now if that isn't a testimony to the fact that stripes are here to stay, then what is?

It is not just as tops and sarees that the print is in vogue. Head for that sweet spot in the middle of the two by wearing stripes in the way Sonam Kapoor did here.

Or maybe a dress like Sonakshi Sinha?

Whichever way you want to play it, stripes will remain ever so versatile, and a constant go-to.

And we thank Kajol for reminding us that.
