Ever since she made her debut in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Anushka Sharma has been the designated girl next door in Bollywood. Other than when Anushka is busy promoting her films or walking the red carpet, she can usually be seen in a super casual avatar, more often than not jeans and a top. Although Anushka's choice in the kind of films she makes has evolved immensely in the last few years, her personal style has seen little change. We're not complaining, though, there's little room for one to go drastically wrong when it comes to wearing jeans and a tee. Anushka may not have made a deep mark in the fashion world, but we would give her a big thumbs up for staying true to who she is and always wearing what she seems to feel most comfortable in.
Anushka's very first film saw her play a simple girl living and married in Amritsar. Anushka convinced many with her part in the film that she was here to stay.
Only two films old, Anushka was cast opposite a new actor at the time, Ranveer Singh. Anushka made a few faux pas with her fashion in the year 2010, but she more than made up with her brilliant acting.
Anushka's casual choice of clothing is not only limited to real life it seems. While playing characters like Akira in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, she seems to have taken her style of dressing into reel life too.
2013, was the year Anushka decided to join the Instagram bandwagon. Her very first post was a group picture which read "work in progress". Anushka can be seen wearing a knit grey cardigan with her hair tied up in a simple bun.
Anushka was also seen sporting a fringe that year.
Even when she's out and about promoting her films, Anushka seems to prefer comfortable yet chic clothes. Can't say we're surprised given that the actor has to stay on her feet through most part of the promotions. Anushka opted for a lot of flowing silhouettes and flats in 2015 while promoting her film Bombay Velvet.
We have to say, though, when Anushka decides to dress up no on can keep their eyes off her. She decided to wear this red number for IIFA 2015 and there will be few who can deny just how gorgeous Anushka Sharma managed to look.
Anushka Sharma is full of surprises, though. Early in 2016, Anushka decided to step out in a little black dress styled by her mom. Well, just goes to show, no matter how big a star you might be, you've still got to listen to mom.
No matter how much we enjoy dressing up, there's nothing quite like getting into your most comfortable clothes, especially when you're travelling. Anushka Sharma did just that while in Budapest. She went right back to her style of dressing and kept it casual in an Adidas skirt and sneakers.
Sultan promotions later that year had Anushka bring out her Indian wear. She dazzled in silver and gold.
But she was soon back in her favourite kind of clothing - jeans + a t-shirt = just plain comfortable.
2017 saw Anushka Sharma put her best fashion foot forward. She really upped her style quotient, whether for a red carpet event or just for a casual day out. She also launched her own clothing label very much in sync with her own style. And how can we forget the biggest event of the year - Anushka and Virat's wedding? Anushka made the most beautiful bride while still keeping it relatively simple, given that Indian wedding wear is usually about maxing the bling.
From Masaba Gupta to Sabyasachi, Anushka wore and rocked several designers in 2017, including her own label.
Whether or not Anushka's fashion is always on point, she definitely has come a long way. More power to her.
