Kate Middleton Rewore Her Iconic BAFTA 2011 Lilac Dress With Equal Doses Of Grace In 2021

Kate Middleton is the sustainable fashion role model of our times we never knew we needed

10 years later and the pleated dress remains just as iconic in its minimalistic style

The Earthshot Prize 2021 was the celebration of sustainability in ways more than one. The invitation read that one doesn't need a new outfit but instead consider the environment when picking one and that's exactly what the Duchess of Cambridge did. Kate Middleton, who is known to recycle her outfits since time immemorial to pave a new trend for royal fashion, picked a lilac floor grazing Alexander Mcqueen number which she debuted at the 2011 BAFTA Brits To Watch event. She paired her dress for the eco-friendly event with a glittery belt cinched on the waist, a crystal pair of earrings which she wore to her sister's wedding and her hair swept to one side to make her pleated dress the star of the show. Along with her came her husband, the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William who also picked a velvet suit he wore in 2019. Seems like the wife is always even if you hold princely titles.

We couldn't help but go back in time to the 2011 BAFTA event and witness the pleated dress for the first time. She wore it with a beaded white belt, a diamond jewellery set and a metallic clutch which she dropped it all altogether in 2021 but radiated just as much.

Speaking of the BAFTAs, Kate Middleton doesn't shy away from repurposing her outfits from the past on the red carpet too and we absolutely love it. Her white and gold Alexander McQueen outfit from the BAFTA 2020 made its debut in 2012 for a charity dinner in Malaysia where she wore it with gold earrings and a half updo. But for the BAFTA 2020, she upped the glam in a French bun, drop Louis Vuitton necklace and a gold clutch and we frankly love them both!

It may have been a long time coming but when the latest Bond flick made its entry, the Royals couldn't stay too out of touch as well very recently. Kate Middleton glistened like liquid gold in one of her go-to designer Jenny Packham's creations with a sheer gold sequinned bodice and structured cape sleeves falling to the floor. We can't wait to see her floor us with this look yet again in the near future.
