Most recently, it was Mira who shared a reel on Instagram, taking us through the beauty of England by visiting Stonehenge and Windsor Castle. Posting a video on Instagram, she mentioned how she added a new item to her bucket list, that was to visit the Stonehenge during the summer solstice. Stonehenge is a prehistoric stone circle and one of the most prominent landmarks in England, while Avebury, which isn't located too far away, is the largest one the world. Together with other similar monuments, they have helped mankind understand Neolithic and Bronze Age ceremonial and mortuary practice.
Just like Mira Kapoor, thousands of people come to the Stonehenge to celebrate the summer solstice. The celebration is held twice a year to mark the changing seasons of the sun and the sky. On the summer solstice, the sun rises behind the heel stone; the ancient entrance to the stone circle and the rays of sunlight are reflected into the canter of the monument, for many unknown reasons.
Stonehenge is considered mysterious because nobody knows who built it and for what purpose. It is said that these stones were put together by an unknown civilisation more than 4,000 years ago. Some researchers believe that it was an ancient burial place.
