Gaurav Gupta's larger-than-life collection has transcended continents. The designer's signature structured patterns with vibrant hues have impressed many big names in the showbiz. Thanks to the avant-garde craftsmanship, Gaurav Gupta has honestly become a common name on the red carpet of international events. Be it Beyonce's Renaissance tour or Cardi B at Paris Couture Week, Gaurav Gupra's design reigned supreme on many prestigious platforms. And Grammy Awards 2024 was no different to when American singer Chloe Bailey decided to rest her faith in the creativity of Gaurav Gupta. The designer dressed Chloe in a risque couture. The one-shoulder brown ensemble was adorned with structured waves in gold sequin work. The bralette with a plunging sweetheart neckline was attached to a skirt-style bottom with a tapered hem. Chloe left her side-parted hair open and styled them in wavy ends. Cat-eye glam with wispy lashes and nude ombre glossy lips sealed the red carpet look for her. She picked slinky gold jewellery and a few rings from the accessories aisle.
This isn't the first time that a Gaurav Gupta design has marked its presence at the Grammy Awards. Last year, at the 65th Grammy Awards, rapper Cardi B caught all the eyeballs in an electric blue sculpted gown by the Indian designer. The ensemble belongs to Gaurav Gupta's Shunya collection. The figure-hugging number featured a structured veil extended from the statement shoulder. The cutout on her midriff region flows right into an embellished skirt with a textured waistline that extends right onto the skirt in a fluid form. The trail carried all the elegance of her look.
Shakira wore a similar hued ensemble but without veils for a cover story for Billboard. The Colombian singer looked absolutely breathtaking in the one-shoulder structured gown. Apart from the structures, the outfit got its drama through a cutout at the midriff region accentuating the look. The floor-sweeping swirl pattern at the hem of the gown added a bold edge to Shakira's monochromatic style.
Gaurav Gupta's designs ruled Beyonce's Renaissance tour through and through. Not just one but “Queen Bey” picked three back-to-back ensembles from the shelves of Gaurav Gupta. The first one was the neon green Athena saree-style gown that took more than 200 hours to create. In addition, Gaurav Gupta and his team spent more than 700 hours hand-stitching 50,000 individual crystals, sequins, and beads.
Next, Beyonce picked a gown from the designer's Hiranyagarbha collection. Continuing the trajectory of a saree-style gown, Beyonce's shimmery outfit featured more than 20,000 crystals, over 40,000 sequins and glass beads that were hand-sewn. Featuring a hood, the ensemble trails down to a bodycon gown with cutout elements. The stunning number also carried Gaurav Gupta's signature futuristic flair but in a subtle way with curves and arches.
Gaurav Gupta gave his design a contemporary touch when he dressed Beyonce in a meticulously crafted corset bodysuit with the designer's signature futuristic flair. The shimmery piece carried strategically crafted cutouts and an exaggerated back design that extended to a high pair of embellished white boots to match the monochrome number.
During the Paris Couture Week, Cardi B slipped into a neon green hooded gown, by Gaurav Gupta. Heavily embellished with sequins, linearly contouring the dress, the gleaming pick came with a noodle string and plunging V-neckline. It got its over-the-top edge through the puffy hood that was an extension of the off-shoulder sleeves and gave the illusion of a voluminous structure.
At Oscars 2022, American rapper Megan Thee Stallion looked ravishing in a sparkling crystal-encrusted mermaid blue gown by Gaurav Gupta. With a fitted bodice, a sweetheart neckline and a slit on the side, the ensemble screamed risqué from miles away. Her magnificent strapless outing also highlighted signature floor-grazing dramatic ruffle sculpting at the back.
At the success party of Netflix show Never Have I Ever, Poorna Jagannathan also rested her faith in Gaurav Gupta. She picked a custom-made outfit featuring a crop top with a mock neckline and an asymmetrical skirt. The top of the two-piece set featured a full-length one-sided sleeve with his signature structural details on the bustier and the midriff region. The figure-hugging skirt came with similar detail on the waist and a long train.
